A TRADESMAN has spoken of his astonishment after a vehicle crashed into a lamppost and was driven off.

Jason Wilkinson, 29, said he believed the vehicle, which appeared to be a driving instructors car, reversed over a raised street parking bay and into the post, while attempting to do a three-point turn before driving off.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV at 10am on Bank Holiday Monday, in Ruskin Avenue, Colne, sparked a backlash on social media as people demanded the driver come forward.

That was after the driver did not only refused to stop to check if anybody had been injured, but also because the footage showed the car’s rear windscreen smash, leaving glass scattered on the ground.

Mr Wilkinson said: “The only reason I am so angry is because he didn’t stop. He must be embarrassed. If it was a driving instructor it appears he can’t drive himself.
