PEOPLE have been asked to back a group of volunteers who are walking from Colne Football Club’s to Lancaster FC’s ground for charity.

Steve Cunningham, Colne FC’s manager, praised the fans who are embarking on the 35-mile sponsored walk to raise money for Pendleside Hospice, Ummah Welfare Trust and the club.

The group will set off from Holt House on 6am on Friday, March 31, and will reach the West Road ground before the clubs kick off at 3pm the next day.

Mr Cunningham said:”I want to say thanks to the fans.

“We’ve got the best fans way from home.

“We’ve got a great club and the fans go above and beyond for the players.

“To do a 35-mile walk to walk from Colne on Friday 6am to get to Lancaster for kick off the following day shows the special club we have got and the kind of people we have here.

“Can ask the whole town to really get behind them?"
