A SECURITY warning has been issued by police after a car owner caught a man trying to steal his vehicle.

Police said the attempted theft happened in Emmott Lane, Laneshawbridge, close to the junction with Keighley Road at around 1pm on Thursday.

The owner of a 4x4 is said to have seen a man trying to steal his car and after being spotted in the act the thief escaped in a black Ford Ka.

Watch liaison officer Keith Sandham said: “The owner was at home with the vehicle parked, locked and secure, directly outside when the brake lights coming on alerted him to something amiss.

“The owner immediately ran outside to see a white male in his early 20s getting out of the drivers side and run off to another vehicle situated down the lane.

“This vehicle has been described as a black Ford Ka which sped off towards Keighley Road.”

No arrests have been made.
