TRIBUTES have been paid to a 'loving father, broken and uncle' killed in a fatal hit and run in Colne.


Keith Robinson, 69, was crossing Albert Road, close to Colne Muni, at around 10.20pm on Thursday when the incident took place.


A 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man have been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.


And paying tribute to Mr Robinson, his family have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.


In a statement released today, the family said : "Keith was a loving dad, brother and uncle.  


"He was an avid rugby fan, who also enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts.  


"He was well regarded by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.


"The family wish to thank everyone for their assistance at the scene and urge anyone who may have seen anything, no matter how small they think it is, to come forward."


Mr Robinson suffered serious head injuries after being struck by a Vauxhall Corsa between Linden Road and River Street. He died a short time later, police said.


The car, which was travelling from Colne town centre towards Nelson, is said to have not initially stopped at the scene of the collision.


A 22-year-old Colne man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He has been released on bail until April 28.


A 23-year-old from Nelson, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on bail until April 28.
