A SINGLE mum went on a petrol steal ‘spree’ repeatedly filling up a car when she knew she couldn't pay, a court heard.
Drug addict Kimberley Anne McCabe, 27, got fuel worth £45 without paying a penny, while subject to a conditional discharge for theft.
McCabe struck three times, but the case was described as 'unusual' by her solicitor, as, he said, she didn't hide her face from the CCTV and drove off. She had gone into the petrol station each time and given her details, but didn't come up with the cash.
The defendant sobbed throughout the proceedings at Burnley Magistrates' Court.
McCabe, of Talbot Street, Colne, had denied three allegations of making off without payment, at Nelson and Colne, on April 19 and May 15 this year and on August 14, 2013, but pleaded guilty on the day of trial.
She was given 12 months' supervision, told to attend the Lancashire Women's Specified Activity Requirement, was fined £10 and must pay £45.02 compensation.
