A MAN who knocked out his partner’s dental plate told her it was all her fault, magistrates heard.

Shaun Maher, 28, became aggressive after victim Lisa Ormerod returned to the family home at 1am on April 29, the Burnley court was told.

He asked her to make him some food and she had refused so he pushed her against a wall and hit her, magistrates heard.

Maher, of Milton Road, Colne, admitted assault and was bailed until June 11 for a pre-sentence report. He pleaded guilty on the basis he intended to strike the wall, but missed and hit the victim.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the pair were in a ‘volatile’ relationship for 20 months.

She had been out and Maher texted and rang her, asking her to bring him food, as he could not be bothered to walk to the top of the street to get his own.

Mrs Yates said when Ms Ormerod returned, the defendant was asleep on the sofa. When she refused to make him anything he became aggressive.

The victim started to back away but Maher pushed her against a wall.

He then struck Ms Ormerod in the face, she was knocked back with force and her dental plate flew out.

Nick Dearing, defending, said the punch went awry.
