A DISQUALIFIED driver who sped through the streets of Brierfield before crashing into another car has been jailed for 16 months.

Khalil Hussain, 20, of Colne Road, Brierfield, appeared before Burnley Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

Hussain drove his silver Vauxhall Vectra dangerously on the streets of Brierfield and into Burnley at around 7pm on Friday 20 January.

He then crashed into a red Citroen Saxo in Briercliffe Road before running off and getting into a nearby taxi. The taxi driver refused to take him away from the scene and Hussain fled on foot, leaving the injured driver at the scene.

The driver of the Saxo escaped with minor injuries after she was cut out of her car by fire officers.

Hussain was charged after police recovered his DNA from the windscreen of his car.

PC Chris Valentine from the Lancashire police Targeted Crime Team said: “Hussain put other road users at risk by driving dangerously through the streets of Brierfield and Burnley.

“During the sentencing the judge referred to Hussain as a coward. It was fortunate no one was seriously injured and I hope this sentence acts as a warning to others who have been disqualified from driving.

“The police take this type of offence very seriously and will deal robustly with those who put the lives of other people at risk by driving dangerously.”

And he wasn't even being pursued by the Police but yet still chose to drive like a bellend.
If sex offenders can be put on the sex offenders register for life (and rightly so) why can't utter pr1cks like this be disqualified from driving for life?

only way he was caught was because he crashed, this happens every week, squealing tyres and revving motors, all night ... but police station closes at night and no-one about to stop them!!!
