Council faces riddle over Brierfield Nurseries site owners

COUNCIL bosses are considering their options for tidying up the former Brierfield Nurseries site in Richard Street.
The council has been trying to trace the owners of the site, Oakton Investments Ltd, since serving a notice on them to tidy the site last November.
Keith Thompson, of Pendle Council, said: “There has been no communication from the owners, nor has any work been carried out to comply with the notice.
“It has proven difficult to locate the owners, with searches suggesting they are based in the British Virgin Islands.
“The Duchy solicitor recently confirmed he has no information about this company, and the company’s solicitors Piper Smith Watton no longer act for Oakton Investments and are unable to supply an address.”
The council is now looking at building a perimeter fence oppo-site the garages in Richard Street.
