PLANS have been submitted to demolish three residential blocks containing 33 flats.
Housing Pendle has applied to knock down O’Hagan Court, Brierfield.
The two-storey blocks contain 16 ground-floor and 17 first-floor flats with a communal entrance and passageways.
In a statement to planners Pendle Housing said: “The demolition of the flats is being progressed in order to reduce the number of vacant properties in this area.
“We are finding it very hard to allocate flats to tenants where the flat entrance is situated off a communal passageway.
“After a long consultation with tenants and board members we feel the best outcome for this type of property is demolition rather than leaving them empty for long periods of time and letting them fall into disrepair.”
The association added there were no current proposals for the site.
If approved the cleared site would be covered with top soil to be seeded next spring, restoring the area to grassland.
