AN EVENT to mark what would have been a former inpatient’s first wedding anniversary has raised £1,378 for Pendleside Hospice.
Julie McCaigue was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2015 and following major surgery she spent time as an inpatient.
She planned her wedding courtesy of the charity ‘Gift of a Wedding’ and the very generous donations from people and businesses made her and husband Jimmy’s day in a short space of time.
So they held a party at Walter Street Club in Brierfield, which featured local acts and fundraising events to raise money in Julie’s memory.
Julie’s nephew David Smith and his friend Josh Hindle are currently halfway through their 12 month challenge to raise funds for the Hospice.
