FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a house fire in Brierfield tonight.
Crews were called to a mid-terraced house in Oxford Street at 8.14pm and early reports said the downstairs was 'well alight'.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent in and a ventilation unit was being used to clear smoke.
Police were also called and an officer was stood outside the property.
The downstairs windows were blacked out from the smoke and there was smoke damage to several rooms.
