SAMPLES of more than 50 fine wines from across the world are set to create a vintage charity event in aid of a hospice.
A ‘corking do’ is promised by Turner Wines of Barrowford in aid of Pendleside Hospice at their wine tasting festival on Friday, December 9.
Six wine suppliers and wine producer Willunga from Australia are attending the evening at Nelson Cricket Club, each hosting a table with eight to 12 wines for people to taste.
Guests will be given a glass and a list on entry and then they can taste their way round the room, sampling wines from boutique wineries from five continents.
Also at the event will be six Lancashire real ale and cider producers.
Entrance is free to the event but a minimum donation of £10 per pass is suggested.
Jane Turner, who runs the Gisburn Road business with husband Steve and brother-in-law Gareth Ostick said she believed the evening would be one of the most varied wine tastings the area has seen.
She said: “None of these wines is available in supermarkets and I’m sure it will be an enjoyable evening with a great cause to help.
"Nelson Cricket Club will be providing food on the night and as the tasting element draws to a close, we will host an auction with lots provided by some of the leading Barrowford businesses such as Scruples, Christian Smith, Kimora, Turners and Joanne Mary Smith Beauty.
“Ashworth Tennant jewellers are also running a very special fundraiser, 100 envelopes will be available at a donation of £10 each – 99 contain fake diamonds and one has an authentic diamond.”
The event starts at 5pm and it is booking is essential on 01282 619606.
