A RECORD number of visitors turned out to enjoy the sunshine at Barrowford Lifestyle Festival.

Guests queued across the bridge to attend the event at Barrowford Memorial Park on Saturday.

Organisers said it was the best turn out ever and guessed more than a thousand people soaked up the live music, entertainment and refreshments on offer.

Festival chairman Michelle Berkins said: “The turnout is absolutely unbelievable.

“There has been an amazing support from local people.

“I would say the highlight is just the number of people who have came along.

“It’s brought people from all over, it’s been our biggest turn out yet.

“There’s people who would never normally use the park coming along.

“It’s just fantastic how it gets everyone going.”

A selection of food and drink options from around the world were on offer on the day.

Charity stalls, fairground rides, dogs shows and duck races were also on offer.

A main stage provided live performances throughout the day.

The event was hosted by ITV Granada presenter Paul Crone.

Robin Wood, 72, from Carr Hall in Barrowford, said: “It’s just a great day.

“I think my favourite thing might be the ice cream or the doughnuts.

“But it’s just nice to see so many people out.”

Sara Mumby, 60, from Nelson said: “It’s a great thing for the town. There’s people of all ages, dogs, everyone.

“The weather has been excellent which has been a bonus.”

Brian Binder, 69, who attended with his children and grandchildren, said: “It’s an excellent day with brilliant weather.

“It’s something great for the town.”
