STAFF from Barrowford-based lighting firm acdc have donated £700 to an appeal for a two-year-old boy who lost his legs after a battle with meningitis.
Louie Jenkins, from Colne, took his first independent steps using prosthetic legs in September.
The company, which designs and manufactures specialist long-life LED lighting solutions, held a barbecue fundraising event to raise money for the Louie Little Lamb Appeal.
Gareth Frankland, chief executive officer at acdc, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to raise funds for Louie through an event which involved the whole company. It was a great day and it was lovely that we were able to meet and spend time with Louie and his family.”
The appeal was set up by Louie’s mother, Julie, to help the family buy equipment needed to support Louie as he grows.
Julie said “We make visits to Seacroft Hospital in Leeds for Louie’s prosthetic legs and need further adaptations to our home.
“Louie is a typical busy little boy and he climbs on everything. This donation will really help towards providing these vital aids for Louie.”
