Movie to inspire Barnoldswick blooms

A MOVIE is being screened in Barnoldswick this week to try to inspire the town’s entry for Britain in Bloom.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel will be shown at the Rainhall Centre at 2pm and 7pm this Friday.

It is hoped it will motivate residents to help get the town in good shape for the visit of Royal Horticultural Society judges on July 30.

Coun David Whipp, who is a volunteer with both bloom and cinema groups, said: “The film is an inspiring, life affirming, movie. The cinema group wanted to boost Barnoldswick’s bloom bid and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel should do just that. Volunteers have planted out hundreds of marigolds to brighten up Barnoldswick, so the film is bang on message for our bloom work.

“We’ve been battling the rain in recent weeks, but we’re determined to show Barnoldswick at its best when the judges visit.”
