West Craven residents flocked to the “beach” in droves – but they didn’t have to go far to have fun.
Barnoldswick Town Council brought in 15 tonnes of sand to the town square last week.
“There were literally hundreds of people visiting the beach in the first week,” said Coun David Whipp, who is organising the event.
“We’re expecting even more this week because of the donkey rides and the surf simulator.”
And Coun David Stead, chairman of Barnoldswick Town Council, said: “It’s been a real success and good fun for young children.
“Families have been going there with their children and then bringing them back the next day.”
The beach, which is covered to provide both shade and shelter, will be open from 10am to 4pm until Saturday.
Donkey rides will be available tomorrow and Saturday and a surf simulator will run on Friday and Saturday. Sandcastle competitions will also be held after 4pm.
