Funeral date for former Burnley and Blackburn Rovers keeper

11:56am Thursday 4th March 2010

DETAILS of former Clarets and Rovers goalkeeper Adam Blacklaw’s funeral have been announced.

Adam’s funeral will take place at Holy Trinity Church, in Barnoldswick, at 11am on Tuesday.

This will be followed by a service at Skipton Crematorium.

Adam played 383 games for the Clarets and was a member of the First Division Championship winning team.

After leaving Turf Moor he joined rivals Blackburn Rovers, playing 96 times.

Burnley players will wear black armbands in the next two matches to show their respect to Adam, who died aged 72 on Sunday, and to show their support to young striker, Alex MacDonald, whose mother, Janette Fackrell died last week, aged just 40.

They will be worn when the team take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and at Stoke City at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

One minute’s applause will also take place ahead of Wednesday’s game to honour Adam and in memory of Janette.
