Bells are music to ears of Barnoldswick congregation

A BISHOP helped a congregation to ring the changes at a historic church in West Craven.

The Rt Rev David James, Bishop of Bradford, was guest of honour, alongside Pendle Mayor Coun Marjorie Adams, at a dedication ceremony at St Mary-le-Ghyll, in Barnoldswick. Three new bells have been installed, two specially-cast, and one which dates back to the 1800s. Three others have been refurbished.

The names of enthusiasts, who began the project four years ago, have been inscribed on the ringer’s bell.

Fundraising is continuing so the church can have a full complement of eight bells.
