A WARNING has been issued to residents by police after 'bogus callers' were reported attempting to sell items door to door.

Officers said young men had been spotted in the Robinson Fold area of Barnoldswick and they have received a number of complaints.

Police said the offenders are thought to be from the Middlesbrough area.

Officers have warned residents in the area to be careful in answering their doors.

A police spokesman said: "We are aware of a number of reports of bogus callers selling door to door.

"Please be vigilant, keep your doors locked and do not allow anyone you don't know into your home.

"If these males call at your door or you see them getting into any vehicles, please make a note of their description and any vehicle registration and then call us on 101 quoting log reference 972 of 20th December."
