Man admits part in Pendle £50k cannabis farm
11:00am Tuesday 21st August 2012 in Pendle
A VIETNAMESE national has confessed to his role in a £50,000 drugs farm operating just yards from a high school.
Police executed a search warrant at a terraced property in Taylor Street, Brierfield, last week, and discovered more than 200 cannabis plants.
Officers forced their way into the property, a short distance from Marsden Heights Community College, at around 8.30pm on Monday, August 13.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We found over 200 cannabis plants. “Cannabis cultivation was in evidence in four bedrooms at the property. And there was some evidence that the electricity system may have been bypassed.
“A man was arrested and charged.” Hau Van Nguyen, 20, of no fixed abode, has now appeared before Burnley magistrates in connection with the discovery.
Nguyen, speaking through an interpreter, admitted producing cannabis and was remanded in custody.
He will appear for sentence at the town’s crown court on September 14.
