Pendle MP advises people to switch providers to cut energy bills

PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has urged people to switch their gas and electricity providers in large numbers to cut household bills.

The Tory backbencher has signed a Commons motion which reads: “We welcome The Big Switch initiative, led by Which? and 38 Degrees, that aims to help people struggling with rising energy prices using the combined switching power of thousands of consumers to negotiate a market-leading deal.

“We regret that 60 per cent. of consumers have never switched energy supplier and that 75 per cent. are currently on their suppliers' standard tariff.

“We note that consumers, for whom energy prices are the number one financial concern, are baffled by the array of offers in the marketplace and often find themselves on more expensive deals when switching.

“We further note that the more people who sign up to The Big Switch, the better the bargaining position of consumers will be and urge people to sign up before March 31.”

Try switching to Ebico. A not for profit company with the cheapest rates around especially if you are on prepayment meters. You pay the same price as a non prepayment meter. Visit ebico.org.uk

Switch MP's by voting for anyone but the 'sitting one'.

That way, all our 'sitting Members' would be out of work after the next General Election.
It would concentrate their minds and make them realise that they should be representing us and NOT dictating to us !!!!!!!!

Anyone on a prepayment meter-usually those on low incomes-have to pay over 200 quid to swap suppliers. It is very very difficult for prepayment meter users to change suppliers-I have tried-without great financial cost.

There is a company called Utilita that makes pre payment swapping easy. They use smart meters, don't sponsor anything and keep prices low. We joined them some time ago and we've seen a great difference in price.

Do these people think others have nothing better to do than s*d around trying to work our prices.
When they brought in all these new companies they told people it would increase competition and prices would fall.
They lied.
Frankly it is a farce. If you switch providers do they come down your road and put in new pipes from a different gas storage facility. Do the f*ck.
Its the same gas from the same place.
It has nothing to do with customers, it has everything to do with suppliers.share holders and gamblers on the stock market.
Stop taking people for fools. And at the same time ask yourself whats the point of Ofgem ... answer f*ck all.
