Pendle MP backs scheme to link classrooms with pupils overseas
10:24am Friday 6th July 2012 in Pendle
GOVERNMENT plans to set up school partnerships between the UK and around the world have been welcomed.
The programme aims to share best practice with international counterparts, and to enhance professional development.
And Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson is backing the scheme.
Mr Stephenson said: “There are already schools within Pendle which are doing excellent work with schools overseas, including Laneshaw Bridge Primary, which has had strong links with schools in Ethiopia, and in Delhi.
“The new scheme will mean more schools are able to take part in overseas linking and the benefit that brings to education.”
Eileen Bleasdale, head at Laneshaw Bridge Primary, said: “We have seen real benefits to oversees linking.
“Through LinkEthiopia we have supported education in Africa whilst increasing cultural awareness between young people in both countries.”
