Pendle residents being urged to use the right bin
10:39am Wednesday 25th April 2012 in Pendle
RESIDENTS in Pendle are being urged to put the right waste in their brown bins.
Brown recycling bins are for plastic bottles, food and drink cans, clean foil and glass bottles/jars.
But some residents put other types of recycling in there, such as paper and card, recycling chiefs said.
Other kinds of plastics have been found in the brown bins, such as food trays, yoghurt pots, butter and margarine tubs and even plastic bags.
Carole Taylor, recycling co-ordinator, said: “When someone puts something other than plastic bottles, cans, foil and glass bottles and jars into their brown bin, it can have consequences for the whole wagon load.
“It could be rejected at the recycling plant for being contaminated.”

so we are gonna see more household waste in the brown bins.
.
I would have thought a plastic yoghurt carton was actually a food carton along with an empty plastic butter tub.
.
such a shame they closed colne recycle site since many folk visited the nearby shopping mall and at same time visited the recycle plant which often exceeded 68% recycling rates.
.if pendle council have a problem with that then they should bark at the tory run county council and their tory MP who closed the colne recycle waste plant in the 1st place.
