RESIDENTS in Pendle are being urged to put the right waste in their brown bins.
Brown recycling bins are for plastic bottles, food and drink cans, clean foil and glass bottles/jars.
But some residents put other types of recycling in there, such as paper and card, recycling chiefs said.
Other kinds of plastics have been found in the brown bins, such as food trays, yoghurt pots, butter and margarine tubs and even plastic bags.
Carole Taylor, recycling co-ordinator, said: “When someone puts something other than plastic bottles, cans, foil and glass bottles and jars into their brown bin, it can have consequences for the
whole wagon load.
“It could be rejected at the recycling plant for being contaminated.”
