  • "I can never understand how the directors of companies who go bust can simply walk away from the debts. They can then start a new business the day after leaving innocent smaller firms to take the brunt of their incompetence. sadly the smaller firms tend to go to the wall with devastating effect on the people involved. compay law needs changing to stop this. I won't hold my breath."

Nelson office supplies firm is owed money by crisis-hit Glasgow Rangers

AN OFFICE supplies firm based in East Lancashire is owed around £5,000 by crisis-hit Glasgow Rangers Football Club.

Citrus Office Solutions, based on the Lomeshaye Industrial Estate in Nelson, appear on the list of creditors in the administrators report for the troubled football club, which has debts of £55million, and could rise to £134million.

But despite facing the prospect of losing some of that money, bosses at the firm said they had a good working relationship with the Ibrox club and would continue to supply them.

Gordon Profit, managing director at Citrus, said: “We have never had a problem with them, they have been good customers of ours and had always paid us on time.

“We had a feeling that this was coming and we are pretty relaxed with them, we have spoken with the administrators and we are still supplying them, although only the essentials at the moment as they are keeping costs down.

“We are going to lose some money, which we don’t like to do, but the reality is they have been good customers and will hopefully continue to be so.”

Citrus have supplied Rangers with various office supplies for a number of years.

They supply a number of Scottish football clubs with stationery and office supplies as well as working with Burnley FC.

Mr Profit said: “They were really easy to deal with and up until they went into administration they always paid the bills on time.

“We are only a drop in the ocean on the creditors list really, what we are owed is not a massive amount, and while it is disappointing to lose out on some of that money we want to keep the working relationship going.

“The club will survive in some form and we would like to continue working with them.”
