Pendle Labour candidate stakes £1k on schooling row with rival

CLAIM: Afzal Anwar
LABOUR’S Pendle candidate Gordon Prentice has staked £1,000 on the continuing row over how his Liberal Democrat opponent educates his sons.
Afzal Anwar’s election agent denied Mr Prentice’s claims that Mr Anwar’s sons were being educated in Pakistan, saying it was only a temporary arrangement after the death of his sister last year.
However, Mr Prentice claims the bereavement is being used as a cover and has pledged to pay £1,000, halt his election campaign and issue a public apology if he is wrong.
The former Pendle MP said: “The boys were taken out of school in Pendle long before the tragic family bereavement which is now being used as a cover.”
Mr Anwar’s election manager Tony Greaves said: “The facts of the situation are that two of the children had gone to visit their grandparents for six months.
"They would have come home, but due to a family bereavement, they were joined by their mother and the three other children instead.
"They are all due to return in June.”

To be an MP you have to be HONEST with ALL the information you give out to the public.
Clearly Afzal Anwar and Lord Greaves have shall we say, "NOT been honest".
Who would want to vote for a man like this?
I and many others have been put off from voting for the Liberal Democrats.

What is interesting is that the Tories are leading an alliance of right wing extremist parties in Europe and yet Andrew Stephenson goes around Pendle telling everyone about his mission around cohesion and hoping to see more muslim faith schools - come on wake up and smell the coffee. Next we will learn that the tories and liberals are planning taxing the asian communities on their second homes in Pakistan - lets be honest the tories will stoop to anything to get elected - just remember Thatcher and the lost generation of the 1980's.

Whats worst is that not a single liberal councillor has been seen at any of the hsutings he has participated in - maybe they too were away abroad due to unforeseen circumstances or maybe the truth that they are whispering is that Afzal is an embarrasment to them eh Lord Greaves!!!!

THE REASON is that "nelsoner1965" has dug up the FACTS which sadly the press did not.
This indicates that you BOTH are liars!
Even when the election is over BOTH of you still have to provide proof as to where Mr Anwar's children were enrolled in ENGLAND since 2007.
Otherwise you will no carry the label of LIARS in political circles and amongst local people.

Interesting that a quick canvas of parents connected with Marsden leads me to believe that Anwar's two eldest boys have been schooled at some kind of madrassa in Pakistan since 2007. His sister died at Christmas 2008. Looks like Mr. Prentice will be keeping his £1000. Shame on the press for not digging this out, it didn't take much effort!

LORD GREAVES was given the opportunity of reply through this forum. VERY unusual for him he chose NOT to respond to my accusation he HAD TOLD LIES.
He was asked as the LIB DEM agent to produce a letter of ENROLMENT for MR ANWAR'S sons for the last 2 years SHOWING where they WERE EDUCATED IN ENGLAND.
The reason for this is that INFORMATION has come in the public domain that MR ANWAR, LIB DEM CANDIDATE'S sons have BEEN ENROLLED and RECEIVING their education in PAKISTAN for over 2 years now!
THE person responsible for telling LIES is the dishonourable LORD GREAVES.
Come on here GREAVES and shoe the PROOF to refute these allegations or be a man for once and APOLOGISE to the good people of PENDLE who YOU have let down.
We await LORD GREAVES OF PENDLE for your reponse!
