Accrington Stanley player backs Colne woman's marrow campaign

FIREFIGHTERS have joined a campaign to help save the life of a brave Colne woman.

Julie Patefield, 37, left, of Castle Road, desperately needs a bone marrow transplant after she was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Firefighters at Accrington Fire Station are now hosting an event on Thursday, February 26 to encourage donors to sign up to the Anthony Nolan Register.

Julie’s husband Andy, a Burnley firefighter, and Accrington Stanley player Andy Proctor joined with other firefighters to raise awareness of the donor drive.

Friends and family have also organised a family fun day with Peter Armitage, who plays Bill Webster on Coronation Street, on Saturday at the ambulance hall, Colne.
