Peers in talks over Nelson revamp

PLANS to redevelop a run-down part of Nelson moved a step forward after possible solutions were discussed with officials from a national charity.

Lord David Shutt of Greenland and Coun Tony Greaves, (Lord Greaves) members of the Whitefield Regeneration Partnership, met Prince of Wales Regeneration Trust and Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment representatives at the House of Lords.

They discussed ways in which they can get involved in the regeneration of the Whitefield area of the town.

Lord Shutt said: “We had a very friendly and constructive meeting and discussed ways in which the Prince's organisations might become more involved in a practical way following the collapse of the regeneration scheme for the boarded-up streets.

Coun Greaves said: “A lot depends on Lancashire County Council’s decision in the next few weeks on whether to build a new school off Every Street.

“Meanwhile Pendle Council is getting on with the renovation of two blocks of housing on Every Street, and advance planning is taking place for four other terraces between Manchester Road and Every Street.”

i see its nelson nelson nelson.funny i thought pendle was a make up of more than just nelson.we recently lost £67,000 for victory park in barnoldswick after certain councillors thought it was too much money to spend in barnoldswick.(it was £134,000 to start with and passed by pendle council)then they revoked half the amount so we will end up with a park half finished.thanks a lot pendle council.

maybe we should.barnoldswick,
majority are working and pay their repairs out of their own pocket.
whitefield .mainly sit in the arndale all day keeping warm and letting other tax payers pay for their houses being repaired and then go and queue up at the post office ,sent their money back home then plead povety.and as to the park funding how do you give any town £134,000 then take half back?what doe's that say about the councillors.do they know what they are doing?.so we end up with a park with 8 inch deep potholes in the paths.i can see the claims coming in thick and fast. now go and have a look.then again look at the money marsden park has had spent on it.i rest my case.yes its all about nelson.ps.when is your house been done up?.
