THE campaign to reopen the Colne to Skipton extension of the East Lancashire railway line has had its 'most productive' year, its chairman has said.
Writing in SELRAP's annual 'At A Glance ' magazine. Peter Bryson says: "The past 12 months have been a most productive period for the campaign.
"I can assure you that many more organisations are now seeking to see the Skipton to Colne rail line reopened: ideally sooner rather than later.
" Standing in front of us all on Colne station, Chris Grayling made the game changing announcement that not only would the government be funding the next feasibility study; he also confirmed that that the leadership of this project would soon pass over to his own department."
Mr Bryson added: "We now obviously wait, with great interest, to see just how quickly both the Department for Transport and Transport for the North can take this project forward into the next exciting stage."
