STUDENTS banded together to help clean up a town's community garden.
Members of Colne Primet Academy’s lunchtime gardening club have cleared litter from a garden, used by the community, to ensure it sets the standard high for the town.
Responding to a request for help from the Colne in Bloom team, a group of students and gardening club coordinator Mrs Cath Myers headed to the Burnley Road garden to give it a spring clean.
The students collected litter which has built up over the winter months, transforming the area back to its best.
Organiser Mrs Cath Myers said: "The students were really eager to help and very attentive in ensuring all of the litter was collected and the garden was tidy once again.”
Colne Primet Academy’s students are encouraged to be active citizens in the local community through participation in a wide range of clubs and activities.
In addition to working on community projects, the gardening club meets each lunchtime to ensure the Academy’s outdoor areas are bright and tidy for all students to enjoy.
Year 7 student Thomas Goodship said: “ Working as a team, we made a big improvement to the area and it was really rewarding seeing the transformation.”
