TWO friends have completed an 'awful' eating challenge as part of their year-long fundraising efforts.
Josh Hindle, 26, from Barrowford, and David Smith, 31, from Nelson, have been completing random challenges together each month of the year to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.
Last week the pair took part in an offal challenge at the Ace Centre in Nelson which involved them eating a variety of foods made form the insides of animals.
They had to eat a total of five dishes made from lamb liver, pig kidney, lamb heart, lamb lung, pig tongue, tripe, pig ear, pig brain, locust and fish eye.
Mr Smith said: "The challenge was awful especially when you saw what you was eating.
"We both felt a bit green afterwards.
"The food had very strange textures.
"The worst for me was the brain and Josh was the fish eye especially when it popped in his mouth and the middle was very chewy."
The food was prepared and served by staff at Schofield's butchers in Nelson.
So far this year the pair have raised more than £5,000 for Pendleside Hospice in memory of relatives who were cared for there.
