RESIDENTS have been urged to give their views on proposed changes to refuse and recycling collections to help a council make substantial budget savings.

Pendle Council have set an overall target of saving around £4 million by 2021.

The council has set out a consultation to give people their views on proposed changes to bin collections.

People will be consulted on a range of proposals such as changing the brown bin and paper and card recycling collections to every four weeks instead of the current two weeks.

Councillor Iqbal, leader of Pendle Council said: “It’s vital that Pendle people give their views on how best to make the savings as we need to know which proposals our residents would find the most acceptable.

“Unfortunately we do not have the option to do nothing."

The consultation will start during the week commencing October 9 and will end on November 26.

The council will come to a decision on the proposals at the next full council meeting on December 21.
