A 33 YEAR OLD man kicked in the door at his cousin's house after a night out with her and his ex-partner turned sour.

Blackburn magistrates heard the two women had gone home with some supper when Lee Denton sent a message to say his phone was dying and he was in his car.

The court heard a second message said he was outside and the door was going through.

"Immediately after that there was a loud bang and the defendant walked into the front room," said Enza Geldard, prosecuting.

Denton, 33, of Regent Street, Nelson, was convicted after trial of criminal damage to a door and driving with excess alcohol. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 130 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £300 compensation, £650 costs and £50 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for three years.

Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said Denton had been out with his cousin Lauren McLoughlin, and his ex-partner, Donna Craig. They were in the Brickmakers Arms when a man asked the two women to dance and this seemed to anger him.

"He called them slags, went into the beer garden and smashed a glass and then left," said Mrs Geldard. "The two women were at Miss McLoughlin's at about 11.30 pm when they started receiving messages and then he turned up."

The police were called and Denton's car was found outside.
