A 49-YEAR-OLD man failed to comply with a requirement of the Sexual Offences Register by completing his annual signing on at the police station.

Blackburn magistrates heard when police realised Peter Andrew Dobbins had failed to report his address they went to the home he had been living in for the last five years and arrested him.

Dobbins, of Cobden Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements. He was made subject to a curfew for eight weeks between 7pm and 7am and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

The court heard Dobbin had been put on the register and sentenced to five years in jail for attempted rape in 2009.

Mark Williams, defending, said since his release in July 2011 Dobbins had never failed to register his address with the police.

"It was negligent, he simply forgot to go to the police station and sign in," said Mr Williams. "He has been at the same house for the last five years and every year he has signed in as he was required."
