LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn is to visit Pendle and Rossendale later this month.

Party bosses are finalising details of the trip on Thursday August 17.

It will be Mr Corbyn’s third to East Lancashire since being elected leader of the opposition after attending Burnley’s May Day rally in 2016 and visiting Blackburn in October that year.

Nelson East County Councillor Azhar Ali, Labour candidate in Pendle in 2015,, welcomed news of the trip.

The opposition group leader on Lancashire County Council said: “We are delighted Jeremy is coming back to East Lancashire.

“It is his third visit since he became leader which show show much the area matters to the Labour Party.

“The trip will be his first time in Pendle and Rossendale, two marginals seats where Labour increased its vote in June.

“Unlike Prime Minister Theresa May he will be out and about on the streets talking to real people.

“It will give the many young people in the area who voted for Jeremy and his policies the chance to hear and meet the man who will hopefully be the next leader of our country.”

The following day Mr Corbyn will head to Southport and Morecambe to complete his two-day trip to Lancashire,
