A woman in her 40s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being trapped in a house fire in Colne.
The fire service has said that she suffered severe burns in the blaze which happened at a house in Blascomay Square at 10.20pm last night.
It is believed the woman's clothing caught fire while she was attempting to blow a candle out.
Three fire engines from Nelson and Colne Stations attended the incident and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
A thermal imaging camera was also used.
Firefighters gave the resident oxygen therapy at the scene and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
