A MOTORIST had to be cut free from his car after it struck a lamppost in foggy conditions in Pendle.
Police and firefighters were alerted after a white Vauxhall Corsa struck a central island on Colne Road, Barnoldswick, at around 6.20am yesterday.

Insp Ilyas Mohmed, of Lancashire Police, said the driver was taken to Airedale Hospital by ambulance for checks on suspected spinal injuries after firefighters from Barnoldswick and Earby managed to free him from the car using specialist equipment.
