A PERSISTENT dog fouler from Colne faces a bill of over £1,000 for allowing his dog to foul in public.
Stuart Day, of Midgley Street, was found guilty of seven offences at Burnley Magistrates' Court, and was fined a total of £1,145.
A local resident, concerned about dog fouling in the Midgley Street area, made several witness statements which helped to bring about the prosecution.
As Day has been previously prosecuted for dog fouling less than six months ago - in October 2013 - his case went straight to the Magistrates’ Court.
Coun John David, executive member for environmental services, said: “This is such a hefty fine for an individual who had absolutely no regard for his responsibilities as a dog owner.
“Clearly, he never had any intention of cleaning up his dog’s waste, instead leaving it to blight the area for other residents.”
