future provision of dementia care services is to be debated by Pendle Council.

The authority is involved in a wider public consultation exercise on proposed changes to the delivery of care services in Lancashire.

One option is to to have consistent specialist demntia services across Lancashire, with one inpatient site in Blackpool and enhanced intergrated liaison services.

The other would have the same consistent services as option one but two inpatient sites, one in Blackpool and another in Blackburn.

It is estimated there were 249 new cases of dementia in Pendle last year, with 20 people being admitted to specialist dementia beds.

The debate will take place on Thursday during the council’s special budget meeting at Nelson Town Hall at 7pm.
