A MUGGER who attacked a 15-year-old schoolboy in a Brierfield park was spared jail – but was slammed as a “pathetic bully” by a judge.

Burnley Crown Court heard that Aamir Anwar grabbed hold of his victim by his coat and demanded: ‘Give me everything you have got.’ Anwar, who fled with the teenager's £300 mobile phone with the keys attached, was caught after the victim and his friend found him on Facebook and pointed him out to police.

Anwar, of Kings Causeway, Brierfield, admitted robbery and was given 32 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

He was also given 100 hours community service and ordered to pay £300 compensation, with £250 costs and a £100 victim surcharge.

Prosecutor Stephen Robinson said that 20-year-old Anwar had put his hand in the boy’s coat pocket and took his mobile phone.

Richard Taylor, for Anwar, said his client was ashamed of what he had done.

Passing sentence, Judge Beverley Lunt told the defendant: “Your actions are those of a pathetic bully.”
