PENDLE councillors have been given a presentation on the awards won by the borough during 2012.

In the last 12 months the council has won a dozen awards for services ranging from town centre regeneration to stray dog welfare.

Coun Joe Cooney, leader of Pendle Council, said: “2012 was a great year for Pendle Council in terms of recognition for the good work we do. These awards are down to our dedicated staff who work hard for the people of Pendle.

“Their efforts are certainly helping us to achieve our objective of delivering accessible services of good value and good quality.

“Having high-quality services is excellent news for local residents, and winning awards for them is just the icing on the cake.”

Stephen Barnes, council chief executive, said: “It will be hard to identify another district council in England which has received more awards than Pendle over the last year.”
