Eleventh-hour bid to amend new primary school plans for Barnoldswick

First published in Pendle

A BARNOLDSWICK councillor has made a last-minute plea to county councillors for some ‘sensible amendments’ to plans for a new primary school in the town.

The application for a replacement primary school next to West Craven High Technology College is being considered at the planning meeting today.

Coun David Whipp said: “I have written to each county councillor on the committee asking them to defer a decision to allow a chance for some sensible amendments to be agreed.

“Just last week, the county finally met with a cross-party group of councillors from Pendle to discuss the impact of the proposed new school.

“All the local representatives were concerned about the inadequate changes to the access off Kelbrook Road through the sports centre car park and the reduction in parking it would cause.

“The county staff appeared willing to consider amending the scheme, but now it’s down for approval without any changes.”
