A BRAWL outside a Pendle pub left one man with a serious head injury and another with a broken leg.

A 45-year-old man is receiving treatment at the Royal Blackburn Hospital for a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain after a fight broke out outside the George and Dragon pub, in Barrowford.

A second man, aged 25, is also in hospital, suffering from a broken leg after the late-night incident. Police said their injuries are not deemed to be life threatening.

Officers were called to reports of a six-man fight shortly after 11.15pm on Saturday. When they arrived at the scene, in Gisburn Road, they found a number of people in the street.

After breaking up the disturbance, and alerting paramedics, four men were arrested on susp- icion of causing grievous bodily harm. They are a 22-year-old man, two 23-year-old men, and a 41-year-old man, all from Barrowford. Detectives are still questioning the men.

DI Steve Holgate, of Pennine CID, said: “Police received reports of a disturbance at Gisburn Road, near to the George and Dragon pub. Officers attended and found a number of people present on the street. A 45-year-old man, and a 25-year-old male, received treatment at the scene from paramedics, and both are currently receiving hospital treatment for non life-threatening injuries.

“Detectives are carrying out inquiries to establish the nature of this incident, and how these individuals sustained their injuries.”
