VOLUNTEERS are being sought to join the friends of parks group in Pendle.
Eight of Pendle’s parks have friends groups made up of volunteers who dedicate some of their time and energy into caring for and improving their local park.
The friends of the parks support the council in maintaining the parks and sometimes initiate their own improvements.
The types of projects the groups get involved with include bulb planting and general maintenance, running events and activities or helping bid for funding.
Coun Nadeem Ahmed, who represents parks and recreation in Pendle, said: “The friends of parks groups have proved to be a very effective way of putting forward residents’ opinions, concerns and ideas to the council.
“Staff from our parks and recreation department support and work with each friends of the parks group all for the good of each park. The groups also help to bring together local communities and encourage people to fully use the wonderful parks on their doorsteps.
