A DRINK-driver has paid the price of a ‘large glass of wine’ with her driving licence for a year.
Sonata Maiazaite, 23, was caught out in the early hours when police thought she wasn’t keeping a straight line on the road. She gave a roadside breath test which showed 44 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath and, at the police station, her reading was 55. The legal limit is 35.
Maiazaite, of Vernon Street, Nelson, admitted driving with excess alcohol, in Rushton Street, Barrowford, on December 22. She was banned for 12 months and must pay £305, in fines, victim surcharge, and costs. Geoff Ireland, defending, said his client, from Lithuania, as well as working full-time, had been studying English at Burnley College.
He said Maiazaite had been to see her mother in Nelson with a friend, and foolishly decided to give the friend a lift home to Barrowford.
