A SWIMMING pool in Nelson is to close for seven weeks to enable major refurbishment work to be carried out.

The pool at Pendle Wavelengths will be closed from Monday, December 31 and reopen on Monday, February 18.

The gym, all exercise classes and the Inside Spa will not be affected and will continue to operate as normal.

The work will include the installation of new changing rooms, showers and lockers, the water slide is to be refurbished and better changing facilities are to be created for families and disabled customers.

Quammer Iqbal, centre manager at Pendle Wavelengths, said the disruption caused by the closure would be worth it.

He said: “I know this will cause some inconvenience, but I’m sure customers will agree it will be worth it.

“We have been waiting a long time for this refurbishment to improve the changing facilities in the pool area and now that we have the go-ahead we are very pleased and excited.

“We are always looking at ways to improve our service and standards to benefit our customers and I’m sure they will see this refurbishment as a significant improvement.”

People can still use Pendle Leisure Trust’s other swimming pools at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne and West Craven Sports centre in Barnoldswick.
