RESIDENTS at a Pendle nursing home will be treated to a concert from a top African musician this week.
Margaret Ferguson, known as Africa’s Lady of Song, will sing at Dercliffe Care Home in Juno Street in Nelson on Friday.
The event was arranged by Music in Hospitals, a charity that promotes the therapeautic benefits of live music.
Margaret, from Ghana, who also plays the piano and cello, has performed for a number of international diplomats in her home country, and gives up her time for free to sing for hospital patients.
Sid Richards, development manager of Music in Hospitals North West, said: “There is recognition in the healthcare profession that exposure to high-quality live music produces clear and measurable benefits in patients, residents and clients with a wide range of conditions.”
