Freedom of town for Earby war heroes
6:00am Tuesday 20th November 2012 in Pendle
EARBY Town Council is to honour seven World War Two veterans with the freedom of the town next week.
The men have been traced in recent months after a similar ceremony in June at which other ex-service people were handed the accolade.
The Freedom of Earby awards, which the public are welcome to attend, will take place on Saturday, November 24 at the New Road Community Centre at 6.30pm. There will be a performance from Earby Band at the event.
The council has also revealed the sad news that three of the veterans given the award earlier this year, Jack Eastwood, Jim Wiseman and Billy Walton, have since died.
