JOBSEEKERS are being invited to take part in a food hygiene course to help them get jobs in the catering industry.

Pendle Council’s Tackling Unemployment Team is offering the free day’s training at Nelson Town Hall on Thursday.

The course is part of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 2 in Food Safety.

The course covers food handling, temperature of food and safe re-heating techniques as well as learning about food premises, equipment and cleaning.

Coun Paul White, who takes a lead on Pendle’s economy and jobs, said: “Anyone getting this qualification in food safety will be in a much better position when applying for a range of jobs.

“It helps when applying for positions such as kitchen assistant, working on school meals, in a bakery or as a waiter or waitress.”

Anyone who is currently unemployed and interested in attending can contact Diane Sumpton on 01282 877350 or e mail her diane.sumpton@pendle.gov.uk.
