A 77-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital after a car crash in Brierfield.
Fire crews had to cut him free from the Kia Carens following the collision near the Lane Ends pub, at the junction of Higher Reedley Road and Halifax Road, on Saturday at around 2.30pm.
A spokesman from Nelson Fire Station said it appeared the man had been dazzled by sunlight and crashed into a parked van before rolling back into an oncoming lorry.
The man is thought to have suffered chest and head injuries, while his wife was taken to hospital for checks. The road was closed for around two hours.
