Blaze breaks out at foundry
A FOUNDRY owned by Simonstone firm Fort Vale Engineering was evacuated after a fire broke out in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Fire crews from both Nelson and Burnley were called to the foundry, in Southfield Street in Nelson at around 2.15am.
They spent two hours tackling a blaze involving an industrial kiln. A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the oven had malfunctioned.
